Well… I am the father of the afformentioned ‘batty’ and have been trying to disown her for years. I even went as far as moving to North Carolina to get away from her. Yes, I actually did think that she had a bat in her bellfry when she first told me of her new ‘hobby’. I always thought of her as the needlepoint, quilting, Oprah, book of the month type of girl, but (oh no), now she’s a bald, tattoo’d, roller derby babe that I always feared that she would become. At least she didn’t become a Republican. There is hope for her yet. I really shouldn’t complain though because I know her unique interests come from the fact that I lived my teen years in England during the sixties and had (and still do have) a penchant for Monty Python, Pink Floyd and brewing my own Nut Brown Ale. Needles to say, since Hayley has such a crazy dad, life must be pretty normal in the Morgan household.

By the way Hayley (if you ever get a chance to read this) I have framed your wonderful x-ray pictures and have proudly displayed them in my loo.

I just had the rockin’ pleasure of catching Lite Brite on a random Friday night at Old Ironsides. I had enver heard of them but when I saw the name of their band in SNR, I had to go check them out. Who didn’t have a Light Bright as a child in the ’80s? They kicked major ass! Great energy, great jump-around/dance beat, and hot guys! Nothing better. I will definately be checking them out, and trying to holla, at them again.

I love Dan and Ashley’s passion you can see present in the perfection and precision of each of their pieces. I’m currently studying photography at university and my latest project is surrealism. I personally have a passion for surrealism and digital manipulation; I’ll defiantly be using them as an inspiration to express my own work and views, as I see something in their work that resembles a flair of my own. I really love the corseted lady’s back image.

I enjoyed reading this article!! I recently have migrated to a vegan lifestyle and have found some similar difficulties in social outings… just because I don’t eat meat, please still invite me to dinner (i do eat!) and please stop asking how I get my protein? are you serious? my response has become “are you educated?” … anyway Needless to say i relate, I haven’t signed up with PETA i don’t hug trees (well not in public anyway) and I don’t wear Birkenstocks or wish I lived in Humboldt (actually.. that last one would be kinda cool) .. love the site keep it up!!

what did happen? where did it all go? left the state? i cant even find too many good bands around anymore. i think the music kids are pumpin out these days have less drive then a v.w. on crack.

what? about a good promoter? im ashamed. fact is…getting local bands to play actively stay true to “music” and now just image. its hard to do.

this is mostly because of those in charge. you got alotta stuck up idiots in office and within the city limits that have such a tight wound idea of whats “right”.

can you blame them? look at the three oaks. back in the day of the police sanctioned shows (p.a.l.) they only booked bands like sorry about the fire, papa roach, and such because the late 90’s idea of what “hard core” was took a hard look around and over did the whole thing and got most places to blackball the heck outta those kids/bands.

honestly, i loved execution style and monster squad who somehow maintained some kinda underground blood. and while alot of social inequalities transpired around this time most bands ended up slowing down the cords and went emo on our arses.

shows over. mainstream kicked in and kids stoped playing punk and metal cross over platform of styles.

everyone wanted “one sound” instead of just merging ideas from various musicians who loved to play and “just wanted to play”.

if you kids (under 21) can ever catch an all ages show, look to “THE JIM ROWDY SHOW” because over the years they have maintained their musical structure and “show” fact is you cant beat the “rock and role” sound, and thats what a scene is.

so until the next big “rock and role swindle” pops around the mid nor cal area….keep roamin, because youll find it.

get some kids together to meet others and go to other shows in the surrounding citys and ask those “great” bands to come out to v.v. book the shows YOU want to hear.

AND FOR GODS SAKE!…a scene is only what you make of it.
so dont fret….join the revolution.

The firs time I saw the Dollyrots was at Warped tour 2006. I got to meet Kelly at the Merch booth after their performance, and what can I say, she is one of the most amazing persons I have ever met.

Saw them again last year, again at warped tour. They are really great.

I really appreciate Kelly meeting with fans at the merch booth. She and her band are awesome!

SacMusicRocks went to the Dollyrots show at The Fire Escape.
I really liked their sound and they had a fun stage presence.
I talked to them briefly after the show and got a copy of their cd.
If you are into Pop/Punk you should get a copy of their album. It is pretty rad.

Amen girly. The obscenities that come along with being hot are a constant theme in my own writing, and I’m constantly trashed by other girls with “You’re waaay exaggerating,” “guys aren’t really that bad,” etc. etc. Whatever naivetè ladies are inhaling keeps them either toned down or completely alienated from such situations. Personally, I’m either way too done up or completely Plain Jane, and I’m glad to find some other woman with the same kinda experience. :)

I have never missed a show, they are one of the best bands I have seen in a long time. The vocals are incrediable, the guitar is classic and the Bass is unreal also the drummer is the very best. The really cool thing about this band is they all come from Galt. I bet Galt didnt know they had all this talent rifgt under there noses. GO SEE A SHOW! you will be really surprised. Forever CA Fan

I know Claudia’s Ashes personally, and I must say that these cats are totally awesome. If you haven’t had a chance to see them live, I would highly recommend doing so. Claudia’s Ashes are going to do great things and go great places!

They came to San Antonio in October, it was by far close to one of the most amazing shows ive been to, up there with NIN =) The guys are extremely friendly which is so refreshing in musicians these days. I love the band, have since i first heard them(towards the beginning of 07) and dont see myself losing any interest in them ANY time soon

Saw them in Raleigh…the show just rocked & they were amazing! Again, stayed afterwards to talk to their fans (even spoke with Erik for awhile =) ), which I found to be a VERY good quality in a band. Thanx guys…can’t wait ’til you come through again!
